I’m going to start reading Shadows of Sherwood on my drive back to Vermont today. The idea will be that if I can finish that book amongst all the packing, and finish Ocean at the End of the Lane, I will have two new book reviews for this blog relatively soon.
I love fantasy, but I also love historical fiction. The Dorothy Canfield Fischer Award is Vermont’s YA book award, and it gave me a good starting place for this summer’s list of books to read. My name gave me a good place to start on this list – I love Robin Hood stories, too.
I’m also planning to read The War that Saved My Life, The Boys Who Challenged Hitler, A Night Divided, and Somewhere There is a Sun. All of these books will be important for my Social Studies classroom. All of them (except for A Night Divided which is about Berlin and the Berlin Wall) are about different aspects of World War II. One of them is a memoir. All of them are also DCF nominee books.
Yes, I shall have to add in some of the Massachusetts book award books soon. Many of those are last years DCF books, though, so I’m taking my time getting to them. I’m super excited about this years DCF nominees.
